ITINERARY
Departure from Quito
Your private driver will pick you up at your hotel in Quito at 8:00 a.m. to begin your journey to Papallacta.
We will take the Quito – Lago Agrio highway, ascending towards the Eastern Andes Mountain Range. Along the way, you will enjoy impressive mountain scenery, high-altitude forests, and the gradual change in vegetation from the Andes towards the Amazon region.
Estimated travel time: 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Scenic Stop in the Eastern Andes
We will make a short stop to enjoy the spectacular landscapes of the Andean páramo and take photographs.
On clear days, you may observe:
- Eastern Andes mountain peaks.
- High-altitude lakes.
- Native páramo vegetation.
- Unique landscapes between the Andes and the Amazon.
Arrival in Papallacta
Upon arrival in the small village of Papallacta, located approximately 3,300 meters (10,800 feet) above sea level, we will enter the hot springs complex.
Papallacta is famous for its natural volcanic waters, rich in minerals, which are heated by geothermal energy from the surrounding volcanic area.
Papallacta Hot Springs Experience
You will have free time to relax in the thermal pools surrounded by breathtaking Andean landscapes.
The pools offer different temperatures, perfect for:
