Española Island – Punta Suárez & Gardner Bay Tour

Discover Española Island (Hood Island), one of the most unique islands in the Galápagos Archipelago, on a full-day excursion from San Cristóbal Island.

This tour combines a hiking experience at Punta Suárez, one of the most important wildlife areas in Galápagos, with snorkeling at Gardner Bay, where you can explore the surrounding waters and observe marine wildlife.

The tour begins at approximately 6:30 a.m. from the main pier in San Cristóbal. The boat ride to Española Island takes approximately 2 hours, depending on sea conditions.

Punta Suárez

Upon arrival at Punta Suárez, we make a dry landing on a rocky basalt area.

We then begin an approximately 1.5-hour hike along a mainly rocky trail.

Punta Suárez is known for its remarkable concentration of endemic wildlife. One of the main highlights is the waved albatross, an endemic Galápagos species that uses Española as an important breeding site.

During the hike, you may also have the opportunity to see:

•  Waved albatrosses
•  Marine iguanas
•  Española lava lizards
•  Española mockingbirds
•  Blue-footed boobies
•  Nazca boobies
•  Different species of herons
•  Galápagos hawks
•  The famous Punta Suárez blowhole

The hike offers an excellent opportunity to observe Galápagos wildlife in its natural environment while following the trails and wildlife-viewing distances established by Galápagos National Park.

Gardner Bay

After visiting Punta Suárez, continue to Gardner Bay and its surrounding islets for a snorkeling experience.

Depending on sea conditions, you may encounter:

•  Sea lions
•  Tropical fish
•  Sea turtles
•  Sharks
• Rays
• Other marine species

Gardner Bay is also known for its beautiful beaches and clear waters, providing a beautiful contrast to the rocky landscape of Punta Suárez.

Lunch on Board

Lunch, snacks and snorkeling equipment are provided during the excursion.

After completing the activities, begin the navigation back to San Cristóbal.

The expected arrival time is approximately 5:00 p.m.
