How to Get from Quito to Lago Agrio
If you are staying in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, there are two convenient options to reach the starting point of your Amazon tour in Lago Agrio.
Option 1: Public Bus
You can purchase your bus ticket at one of Quito's main bus terminals and travel overnight to Lago Agrio. The journey takes approximately 8 hours.
Upon arrival in Lago Agrio, you will need to take a taxi to the meeting point, whose exact location will be provided before your trip.
Important: Please contact the management team at Turismo Ecuador 24 before your departure to receive the exact meeting point location and any additional arrival instructions.
Option 2: Lodge Tourist Bus (Recommended)
For greater comfort, we also offer an exclusive tourist bus service for our guests. The bus departs from Quito at approximately 22:00pm and travels directly to the meeting point in Lago Agrio.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1
08:00 – 09:00 Meeting point at the dining area of Hotel Campestre Magic Paradise in Lago Agrio.
Meet your certified naturalist guide, who will provide a welcome briefing and an overview of the itinerary.
10:00 Guided visit to Magic Paradise Farm, where you will explore ecological trails while observing local wildlife, tropical vegetation, agricultural crops, and traditional Amazonian rural life.
11:30 Enjoy a traditional fishing experience in the ponds of Magic Paradise, a recreational and cultural activity that offers insight into the Amazonian way of life.
13:00 Traditional lunch at Magic Paradise.
14:00 Meet at the hotel to board private transportation to Limoncocha Biological Reserve.
15:30 Visit Yamanmuka Waterfall. Enjoy a short walk through the rainforest to reach the waterfall, where you will have time to take photographs, cool off in the crystal-clear water, and immerse yourself in nature. Your guide will explain the ecological and cultural importance of this unique location.
17:00 Arrival at Limoncocha Biological Reserve. Introduction to the history and biodiversity of the reserve, highlighting its lagoon, primary rainforest, endemic wildlife, and endangered species.
17:15 Begin a motorized canoe excursion across the lagoon. Observe a wide variety of bird species, including hoatzins, kingfishers, and toucans. You may also spot howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, and sloths in the riverside trees. Turtles and reptiles are frequently seen basking on fallen logs.
18:30 Enjoy a spectacular Amazon sunset as the sun disappears behind the lagoon, creating perfect opportunities for photography while listening to the sounds of the rainforest at dusk.
19:00 Begin an exciting nighttime adventure, searching for black caimans with flashlights, watching countless fireflies illuminate the lagoon, and observing schools of small jumping fish.
19:30 Return to Lago Agrio and arrive at Hotel Campestre Magic Paradise, where the day's activities conclude.
Day 2
08:00 – 08:30 Meet at Hotel Magic Paradise in Lago Agrio before departing by private transportation for approximately two hours to the entrance of the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve.
11:00 Upon arrival, your guide will provide an informative presentation at the Ministry of Environment Interpretation Center. Afterward, you will complete the registration process with the Ministry before boarding a motorized canoe to begin your journey along the Cuyabeno River.
During the canoe ride, enjoy the extraordinary biodiversity of the Amazon. Depending on weather conditions and a bit of luck, you may encounter monkeys, colorful tropical birds, reptiles, and even the legendary green anaconda, one of the largest snakes in the world.
13:30 Arrival and lunch at Piranha Ecolodge. After lunch, your guide will introduce the lodge facilities, provide important information about your stay, assign your rooms, and allow time to relax.
16:45 Departure for your afternoon excursion. Cruise upstream to the confluence of the Cuyabeno River and La Hormiga River, one of the best locations to observe the famous Amazon pink river dolphins, one of the reserve's most iconic and protected species.
Continue to Laguna Grande, where you will witness one of Ecuador's most spectacular sunsets and have the opportunity to enjoy a refreshing swim in the lagoon.
18:30 Prepare for a fascinating night excursion searching for black caimans and tree boas while navigating the Cuyabeno River back to the ecolodge.
20:00 Dinner prepared by the lodge's chef, followed by a welcome cocktail. Spend the evening relaxing in a hammock or enjoying a drink at the lodge's bar.
Day 3
05:30 Wake up early for a sunrise canoe excursion to Laguna Grande, where you will experience the magical beauty of the Amazon at dawn.
After sunrise, continue searching for Amazon pink river dolphins and other wildlife that is most active during the early morning hours.
08:00 Breakfast at the lodge before preparing for your return journey to Lago Agrio.
09:30 Motorized canoe ride back to Cuyabeno Bridge, with another opportunity to observe wildlife along the river.
11:30 Arrival at Cuyabeno Bridge, where private transportation will be waiting to take you back to Hotel Magic Paradise in Lago Agrio.
14:00 Lunch at Hotel Magic Paradise in Lago Agrio.
