Itinerary
Departure from Quito
Your private guide will pick you up from your hotel in Quito for a scenic drive south along the famous Avenue of the Volcanoes toward Cotopaxi National Park.
During the journey, you'll pass beautiful Andean landscapes, agricultural fields, and traditional villages while learning about Ecuador's geology, history, and culture.
Arrival at Cotopaxi National Park
Upon arrival, we'll stop at the Mariscal Sucre Interpretation Center, where you'll learn about the park's unique ecosystems, wildlife, volcanic history, and conservation efforts.
We then continue to the beautiful Tambopaxi area, one of the best locations for panoramic views of Cotopaxi Volcano.
Horseback Riding Adventure
After a safety briefing and basic riding instructions, you'll begin an unforgettable horseback riding adventure through the Andean páramo.
No previous riding experience is required.
During approximately two hours, you'll ride along scenic trails surrounded by grasslands, streams, and breathtaking mountain scenery beneath the majestic Cotopaxi Volcano.
Along the ride you may observe:
- Cotopaxi Volcano.
- Wild horses.
- Llamas.
- White-tailed deer (occasionally).
- Andean condors and native birds.
- Native high-altitude vegetation.
Your guide will explain the geology, wildlife, history, and ecological importance of Cotopaxi National Park.

Limpiopungo Lagoon
Before returning to Quito, we'll visit Limpiopungo Lagoon, where you'll enjoy a short walk while observing Andean birds and capturing unforgettable photographs of Cotopaxi Volcano reflected in the lagoon.
Return to Quito
After an unforgettable day surrounded by Ecuador's spectacular Andes, we'll return comfortably to Quito.

Important: Due to the high altitude of Cotopaxi National Park (12,470–13,780 ft / 3,800–4,200 m above sea level), we recommend walking at a comfortable pace, staying well hydrated, and avoiding strenuous physical activity if you are not acclimatized to high elevations.
