Detailed Itinerary
-Meet at the Turismo Ecuador 24 office
Welcome, check-in, and signing of documents.
-Departure from Banos de Agua Santa at 9 am
Transfer to the Chimborazo Reserve through spectacular Andean landscapes.
-Entrance to the Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve
Check-in at the access control. Brief stop to observe vicuñas, llamas, and alpacas in their natural habitat.
– Arrival at the parking lot (4,850 m) – Hike to the Edward Whymper Refuge (5,000 m)
Approximately 45-minute hike to the highest refuge in Ecuador. Time to acclimatize, enjoy the scenery, and take photographs.
– Preparation for the bike descent
The guide will provide safety equipment (helmet, bike) and provide instructions on the route.
HIGH MOUNTAIN BIKING DOWNHILL
– Start of the bike descent (from 5,000 m to 3,200 m approx.)
Total adrenaline rush on a 35-40 km route. The descent follows dirt roads, asphalt sections, moorlands, and rural areas. The tour includes:
Initial technical section (4,800–4,200 m): volcanic, rocky, and sandy terrain
Intermediate sections: wide paths through Andean grasslands
Final section: rural roads and agricultural areas with views of Chimborazo
-Arrival at the end of the descent
Small toast or refreshments to celebrate the adventure
- Typical Andean lunch at a local restaurant
