The practice of paragliding as an adventure sport in the Niton sector

Cerro Nitón is one of the favorite places to practice this activity that increasingly attracts more intrepid tourists who seek to quench their thirst for adrenaline and excitement.

The sport of paragliding in the Nitón mountain is one of the main attractions of the Pelileo canton, although it is not well known by tourists, it is necessary that there be adequate publicity, this sport would be one of the main economic contributions for the canton, the Nitón mountain needs places suitable for the practice of this activity and thus will be one of the main sources of work for the locals in this sector.

The tourist agencies that practice paragliding in the Nitón mountain are governed by 2 types of certifications:

AEP: Ecuadorian Association of Pilots and Paragliding Professionals

It is a course aimed at people who do not have knowledge of the practice of sport where subjects such as flight mechanics, aerodynamics, meteorology, aerology, flight technique, legislation and air traffic are valued.

The course lasts 1 month and a half of 4 hours, at the end of the course the student receives the AEP-P1 certification

APPI: Association of Paragliding Pilots and Instructors 

It is an international school based in Switzerland founded in 2009 that provides a Global certification to its students, APPI has 180 schools in 50 different countries, and associated with an insurance company.

The tourism agencies that practice the sport of paragliding in the Nitón Mountain, use the Two-seater and Single-seater paragliding modality according to the paragliding sizes required from size S to XXL, ideal for the weight required by the instructors.
