The Mindo-Nambillo Protected Forest is just two hours from Quito. You can reach it by private car or public transportation from Ecuador’s capital to the town of Mindo, which serves as the gateway to the reserve.

Best Time to Visit
The Mindo-Nambillo Protected Forest is a year-round destination, but the best time for birdwatching and hiking is during the dry season, from June to September. However, rain is common due to the cloud forest ecosystem, keeping the landscape lush and vibrant.
